At LIVS, you and your pet are the most important part of our practice. Yes, we strive to deliver the absolute best clinical care. And we believe that communication and service are an essential part of that.

That’s why, whatever your pet’s medical challenge, our veterinary specialists and support personnel will treat you with honesty, respect and compassion. Equally important, we consider your primary care veterinarian to be an integral part of your pet’s healthcare team, so we’ll work closely with him or her throughout your pet’s diagnosis and treatment. Together, we’re confident we can achieve the best possible outcome—for your pet and for you.

What is a veterinary specialist and why does my pet need one?

Veterinary specialists go through training that’s similar to that of specialists in human medicine. After earning a degree in veterinary medicine, the veterinarian will spend an additional 3 to 4 years in an intensive program that includes a focused internship, and a 2- to 3-year residency. The veterinarian also must conduct and publish independent research, and sit through a multi-day board examination.

If a veterinarian completes all these requirements, they become board-certified in their chosen discipline and can be called a specialist. This Diplomate status is the highest level of specialization awarded in veterinary medicine.

At LIVS, however, our commitment to quality doesn’t stop at board certification. In addition to diagnosing and treating complex diseases and performing intricate surgeries every day, our specialists research and pioneer innovations in therapies, procedures, and treatments so others may benefit from this knowledge. In addition, we stay current on all the very latest technologies, research, and advancements in the world of veterinary medicine.

This means you can feel confident that at LIVS your pet will benefit from the very highest level of clinical expertise and professionalism.
