Dr. Tiffany Irizarry, a Long Island native, attended Providence College for her undergraduate degree, majoring in public and community service with a minor in biology. She continued her education at Davenport University, where she earned an MBA with a concentration in healthcare management. While working in public service, she noticed that while many resources were available for humans, minimal resources existed for their pets. This imbalance drove her back to higher education to become a veterinarian and improve the lives of animals. She attended St. Matthew’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in the Cayman Islands and completed her clinical year at Mississippi State. After graduating from veterinary school and finishing her clinical training, she joined the LIVS team as an intern from 2018 to 2019. Upon completing her internship, Dr. Irizarry chose to stay with LIVS as an overnight emergency doctor.

While working at LIVS, Dr. Irizarry discovered her passion for emergency and critical care medicine. In July 2021, she left the LIVS team to pursue an Emergency & Critical Care Medicine Residency at Ocean State Veterinary Specialists in Rhode Island. During this three-year advanced residency program, she was trained to manage the most complex cases, ranging from sepsis and vehicle accidents to mechanical ventilation and immune-mediated diseases. Upon successfully completing her residency, Dr. Irizarry embarked on a month-long European adventure before returning to LIVS, where she now manages the Critical Care Department. She returned in a new role, hoping to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the patients who arrive at the hospital in their hour of need.

Dr. Irizarry is a huge Disney fan and makes sure to visit once a year. In her free time, she enjoys the company of her three energetic Yorkies, a Golden Retriever, a parrot, two parakeets, a turtle, and a cat. She loves reading, beating all challengers in board games, and unwinding at the movie theater. She is currently learning how to ride a bicycle.
